Bebras Ireland introduces computing without asking students to write code. The Irish Computer Society describes a school-run online challenge built from visual and interactive problems that can be solved through logic, decomposition and careful reading. That makes it a useful diagnostic: a student may discover a strong instinct for computing before learning a programming language. The scoring system changes the experience. Easy, medium and hard problems carry different rewards, and wrong answers on harder tasks can lose points. The challenge is therefore partly about judgement—knowing when an idea is sufficiently checked and when leaving a problem unanswered is more sensible than guessing. Age-based categories keep the concepts accessible without making every item routine.
