Information We Collect

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information from users.

How We Use Information

We use personal information to provide and improve the website, send requested subscription emails, respond to messages and suggestions, maintain security, prevent misuse, understand site usage, improve user experience, and manage submissions, communications, and administrative workflows.

Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising Services

CompeteMap may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, remember preferences, improve security, understand site usage, and improve our services.

CompeteMap may also use third-party services, such as hosting providers, database providers, authentication tools, email services, analytics tools, and security tools. These services may collect or process limited technical information, such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, cookies, or similar identifiers, where necessary to provide their services.

CompeteMap uses Vercel Web Analytics for an aggregate traffic estimate across visitors. It does not use analytics cookies. Vercel derives an anonymous visitor identifier from request information, and the identifier resets daily. CompeteMap does not send custom product events, email addresses, account IDs, or raw search text to Vercel Web Analytics.

Optional website analytics is disabled unless you accept it. When accepted, we use Google Analytics 4 for traffic source, campaign, and returning visitor reporting, and PostHog EU for a limited set of manually approved page views and product events. These reports cover analytics-consenting visitors and are not a complete count of all website visitors.

During this first phase, CompeteMap does not identify analytics visitors and does not send email addresses, account IDs, or raw search text as custom analytics event properties. CompeteMap does not intentionally include IP addresses as analytics event properties. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store individual IP addresses. Our PostHog EU project is configured to discard the raw client IP after it is received for the network request.

Our email delivery provider may use recipient-level email open and click tracking for newsletters. That email tracking is separate from website analytics consent. You can unsubscribe from newsletter messages using the link in an email without changing your website analytics choice, and withdrawing website analytics consent does not unsubscribe you from email.

CompeteMap does not currently use advertising cookies. If we introduce advertising services such as Google AdSense in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for consent before using non-essential advertising cookies.

Sharing Information

We do not sell personal information.

We may share limited information with trusted service providers who help us operate the website, such as hosting, database, authentication, email delivery, analytics, advertising, or security providers. These providers should only use the information as needed to provide their services to us.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or if necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of CompeteMap, our users, or others.

How Long We Keep Information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.

For example, subscription information is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Messages, feedback, and competition suggestions may be kept for as long as needed to respond, improve the service, maintain records, or manage site content.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the use of your personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Children and Students

CompeteMap provides information about student opportunities, but we do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent.
