Open to Grade 9–12 and gap-year students worldwide, entering individually or in teams of up to four. Rated Advanced Level, with difficulty mainly coming from broad subject coverage, scientific accuracy and competitive team-based progression.

Competition stages: Online Phase 1 open-round multiple-choice biology exam; top teams qualify to Phase 2 match phase with fast-paced rounds.
