BPhO Junior Physics Challenge

The Junior Physics Challenge is designed to engage students of all abilities and encourage them to do more physics. Its format is deliberately compact and school-friendly: rather than asking for a long written solution, it samples understanding across mechanics, electricity, optics, heat, units, waves and some astronomy. That breadth makes it useful as an early indication of how comfortably a student can transfer classroom knowledge into unfamiliar questions. The British Physics Olympiad is a charitable trust run by volunteer physics teachers and academics. For families, the important point is that this is a teacher-led school activity rather than a remotely supervised home test, so practical arrangements sit with the participating school.
