Editorial perspective
Our Take
2027 edition. Administrator instruction on 21 October 2026: use the TOP official schedule despite stale bottom legal terms. Opens November 2, 2026; free deadline March 1, 2027; regular April 26 ($20); late May 24 ($45); final July 2 ($65); selections July 21; festival October 15–17, 2027. Times/time zones are not specified in the top schedule. Bottom terms still list Nov 2025–July 2026 and an October 2025 winner announcement; these are not treated as current dates. Genre runtimes vary; middle-school category is up to five minutes.
